The act of getting high is by definition messing up your brain

If you don’t want drugs messing with your brain or affecting you, then why do them? If you’re trying to get high or something, then they are going to affect you. That’s what a high is

There is no such thing as a safe drug, safe for who – the fit, the wealthy, the young, the aged?

You have soft and hard drugs. I imagine alcohol is a hard drug, marijuana is a soft drug compared to heroine.

Every drug by definition has some effect on your body (positive or negative). Getting high is when you throw off your minds normal sensorum and interpretation of the external world. Most drugs are addictive because they are short acting. Short acting drugs tend to cause more bottoming out since they are fast in fast out and thus have more potential for abuse.

The short answer is if you are worried about altering your consciousness and causing lasting harm to your brain, don’t start using street drugs (don’t always contain what you think and no consistent potency can lead to accidental overdose).

I have friends that used drugs and sometimes I was sitting in the circle with them but chose not to “participate”. There was no judgement or pressure. You don’t have to do something if you don’t want to. I feel like if you really did want to you would just do it rather than ask here.
