No idea. Depends on the state you are in, the court you’re going to and your age.

I don’t think so. But,if you have to go before the judge,he can order you to go to rehab for a certain amount of time. It happened to Charlie Sheen,it can happen to you.

One Response to Can I Be Court Ordered to Drug Rehab?

  • Louis Boret says:

I don’t know about the laws in your state, but in Texas, a doctor and another qualified person (such as a relative) can request and be granted a court ordered involuntary commitment if it is determined that a person is a danger to themselves or another. An addicition can be considered life threatening and a court order can be obtained. In the event it is, law enforcement personel will show up unannounced and take that person to a rehabilitation facility whether they want to go or not and that person will be confined into a treatment program for the duration of the court order or until it is determined by the medical staff of the facility that you are safe to release. In other instances, if there is a legal violation involving drugs or alcohol court ordered involuntary rehabilitation may be part of the sentence.

However, just telling a professional that you have an addiction problem will not get you confined and is an excellent idea if you are seeking to end the nightmare.
