Purer meth being safer depends on whatever cuts/adulterants/impurities may be found in street meth. For economic reasons, most powder drugs are cut, ideally with something inert and harmless to the individual. And for legal reasons, much illicit meth is going to be inherently impure. The lab “standards” are much lower.
The latest trend in scare tactics is to show what meth does to people, with pictures. I’ve known people to use it for forty years and are just fine. The pictures are likely of ate up users relying on small-scale labs, highly impure product. You cannot inject red phosphorous, methanol, and the other solvents, as well as strong acids and bases without health issues.
Pure meth is of course much less toxic than meth that was made in a van.
Certain parts of the country have very pure meth, and people often use it as a utility drug, similar to how Adderall is abused.

This is going to be a very weird way to imagine in but think of the methamphetamine as a pizza (bear with me) and the purest form is cheese pizza. Anyone can eat cheese pizza because it’s just the base now let’s say you start throwing on some topping and or in real terms creating the meth with other substances to try and enhance it in a way but in most scenarios the meth cooks are not enhancing the method with other substances they are substituting the original more expensive substances with others that are worse for you but do the same job. So let’s take that cheese pizza and replace all the cheese with a higher fat content cheese which is cheaper but in return is worse for your body. Meth no matter how refined is still drug. A pure form of medical Methamphetamine is Adderall, even though it is a medical for of methamphetamine is still has negative affects such as but not limited to, being addictive, cause lack of hunger, no being able to sleep, feeling sick when not on it. I’m prescribed adderall to help me in college and it works excellently but adderall is dangerous because of it’s highly addictive properties. Some days it’s almost like a craving to take a pill but as long as you have good self control you should be completely fine and not become addicted. Hope this helped a bit.
