Does the Explosion in Casinos and Lotteries Bother You?
Question by TheseUnitedStates: Does the explosion in casinos and lotteries bother you?
It seems to hit the people who can least afford it the most — those with the fewest disposable resources. Of course free will comes into play. But is the government really doing anybody a favor to approve all these casinos popping up all over the place? Does anyone live in a state where you have concrete examples of the good done with all the revenue the lottery generates?
There was high literacy rate in NY before the existence of lotteries or casinos, without their attendant regressive tax drain on the poor. It’s not “as a result” of gambling that your home states literacy rate is high.
