How Do I Get Over an Internet Addiction?

Question by Water_Princess: How do I get over an internet addiction?
[rewrite]I’ve come to suspect I have an actual addiction to the internet, and it has definitely been getting worse. My life is suffering, and if I sink any lower, I won’t be able to climb back up. I don’t want to spend money or do counseling. Are there any free resources or general steps I can take? I don’t have self-control anymore.
