How Long Does It Take for a Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Program to Last?

Question by jake: How long does it take for a drug and alcohol rehabilitation program to last?
[rewrite]I want to undergo a drug and alcohol rehabilitation program. I want to start over with my life and I think allowing myself to be sober and detoxified is my first step to recovery. I’m worried about the time, though. I want to know how long the program will last because I want to be fully-recovered by the time my sister Sam gets married (which is in 6 weeks). Please help. Thank you.

I suggest you make an appointment with the facility you are most interested in being committed to. They will give you realistic goals and facts about rehab. Every person is different, and it’s not only going to rehab that makes you clean, it’s the desire not to go back to that type of behavior. Really WANTING it is the first and largest step to getting clean. Good Luck!

Well, the duration of the program depends on the type of treatment you choose. A short term treatment takes around 4 to 10 weeks while a long term treatment takes around 10 weeks to almost a year. Come to think of it, you really have the time in your hands. I mean, if you recover faster then you’ll be released earlier. I hope you make it to your sister’s wedding. My sister will kill me if I don’t attend hers.
