Is Addiction Considered a Disease in Countries Other Than the United States?
Question by : Is addiction considered a disease in countries other than the United States?
[rewrite]I’m part of the National Forensics League (Speech and Debate, not CSI), and I’m doing a debate which discusses how to treat the abuse of illegal drugs. The resolution is not limited to the US, so I want to know if it’s considered a disease in other countries. Sources would be helpful =)

EDIT: Sources are necessary.

This is not a direct answer to your question … merely my opinion…
Addiction is not a disease…. its STUPIDITY, its making excuses, and more importantly … its a CHOICE. I for one do not pitty the dumbass that puts themselves in the position where they become dependent on a substance that they knew when they took it would lead to sickness.
In the U.S we call it a disease because no one wants to be accountable for their actions.
G’luck with your debate
