Prescription Pill Abuse?

Question by Less Confused: Prescription Pill Abuse?
Why is it not a bigger deal?

There’s all kinds of anti-drug propaganda about marijuana. You can’t watch TV without see one of those silly commercials. But even the strictest person has to realize marijuana is the least of anyone’s problems.

Everyone I know abuses prescription pills. Hydrocodone, oxycodone, Xanax…many more I can’t name. Middle aged housewives trade these amongst themselves like candy. They give them to their children to calm them down…I’ve witnessed this on many occasions.

Almost everyone has a prescription for some type of “nerve pill” or pain pill…yet it’s impossible for everyone to have that kind of problem.

I’m from West Virginia and it’s even worse here. People OD all the time, people get shady docs to give them prescriptions and then sell it out of their house. Almost everyone is involved with it.

Yet nobody talks about it.

How can America not get that pills are worse than weed?

When will people wake up?

Hi I am from West Virginia too. And you are right you can get almost any kind of pain pills like you mentioned.I don’t know where in West Virginia you live but I know you can go to Camden Clark Hospital and tell them you have a tooth ache and they will prescribe Vicodin or Lore tabs. You are right when you say they focus more on weed then they do prescription drugs. You know why because it’s legal. There are more people in W.V. that are prescribed never pills than anywhere else. And people do sell their pills to make money. These I am sorry to say are people that have no jobs and they have to make some kind of income to survive. Some become addicted to these pills and it just ruins their lives. I have never met someone who was addicted to weed. Personally if I had to make a choice between pills, weed, or drinking I would choose weed. You have to understand that the doctor and the producers of these drugs get a kick back. After all they have to make their money someway so they can produce the product. The only person who makes money from selling weed is themselves. You are right, people need to wake up. There are too many of our teenagers who OD on these pills. How many more do we have to lose before someone does something about these doctors who prescribed these drugs so freely.
