I don’t understand some of your question. The parts I do understand, however, really concern me. I work in substance abuse. I won’t lecture you on Meth, I will simply say how very sorry I am your father died. My father died this past September, I am still not OK. I am kind of getting from your posting you have been off Meth for 1 week? If that is the case, run, do not walk, RUN to a NA (Narcotics Anonymous) meeting in your area. I’ll put two links in my Sources, the first is to find a meeting. The second is where online meetings are held. You WILL NOT STAY CLEAN WITHOUT MEETINGS. (It is possible in some cases, but VERY, VERY improbable) If you are not off Meth, again RUN to an Emergency Room and tell the triage nurse what you are coming off of. The social worker at the hospital will find you a bed in state supported detox and hopefully a state supported rehab. Meth is a h3ll of a drug to get off of, and stay off of. It is because how it literally rewires your brain. IF YOU NEED HELP FINDING RESOURCES email me from the link on my profile.

Your brain is so f**ked up right now, because of the drug use, all you can do is just hang on. Get to an NA meeting and start doing research on PAWS (Post Acute Withdraw Syndrome) I’d also HIGHLY recommend you get with a doctor and discuss medication for insomnia (NOT AMBIEN or LUNESTA) and possibly for depression. Within the first year of being clean, most drug addicts resemble someone with BiPolar Disorder, yet you are not (normally) BiPolar. This is because of the rapid cycling of their emotions. Medication can help A LOT.

I came off meth too. you just need to know, that your extreme negative feelings at present is just from the chemicals in your brain being tapped out. Meth causes your brain to release all its stores of feel-good and pleasure chemicals and it can take a month to restore the levels of those chemicals back to baseline.

You can quit without NA. I never went to NA or a hospital and I was a 3x week (less than a day of being high and more than 2 of pure hell to just come down) user for 6 months, I just put the stuff down and never looked back. You really really have to be adamant about not touching it anymore. And being sober and then seeing everybody else running around high on it really seals the deal of “Jesus F-ing Christ, these people are swine and acting nuts! Did I look like that too? I never ever want to be like that again”.

Just be strong, tough it out, when you start to feel really bad just take a breath and remind yourself that what you’re feeling right now is just the after-effects of the meth, its not you or reality. It will subside. Just don’t hit the meth again or you’ll have to start all over. If you are able to see a doctor right away they can prescribe some of the typical anti-depressants or whatever that give you back a little bit of those chemicals temporarily to make the process a little easier.

I know you are still really thinking about that drug all the time right now, your body is saying it needs it. Just try to stay occupied and ignore it. It goes away in a few weeks and at a month you should not be craving it anymore. Although the cravings are gone, it starts to look attractive and fun again… don’t give in! That drug is the most addictive one there is.. it gets a hold of people like nothing else and you do not want to be like those other tweakers. Always remember “well, if i get back into this again, this is what im going to look like, and this is how i’m going to behave and this is where my life is going to end up” Stay away from it, don’t associate with the people who use it or put yourself in situations that might expose you to it… that’s really the only way. That stuff grabs people so hard its just rare for someone who recently stopped using to turn it down when presented with it. I used to get so sick when coming down off that stuff that now even years later, just seeing the.. “tools” or even thinking I smell it makes me start gagging uncontrollably.
