Can Past Hard Drug Abuse Damage the Ova (Egg Cells) in a Woman and Cause Mental Retardation or Birth Defects?
Question by pizza_party9: Can past hard drug abuse damage the ova (egg cells) in a woman and cause mental retardation or birth defects?
Can the already developed ova that are in a woman’s body from birth be damaged from years of hard drug use, specifically opiate, marijuana and cocaine abuse? I am curious to know if the child of a former heroin addict is at risk of being born with any birth defects both physical and mental. The mother has been free from drugs for six years. I want to know if ova can be altered while dormant in the ovaries and lead to problems years later if the egg is fertilized. Thank you.

Medication helps in suppressing withdrawal symptoms. A lot of times, the reason why a drug addict can’t quit on his own, is because of the withdrawal symptoms. Having a drug that would be able to free the patient from these symptoms would matter much. Another reason is that medication helps bring the brain functioning back to how it once was. Drugs, such as heroin, interfere with the functions of the brain. The medication reverses the effects brought about by illegal drugs.
How Is Custody Determined When Social Services Takes the Kids?
Question by serena_dee: How is custody determined when social services takes the kids?
A woman I know of is most likely going to lose her kids due to abuse. Kentucky social services is talking about giving “indefinate” custody to one of the kids’ (divorced) grandparents or other relatives like an aunt or uncle.
How will they determine who will get the children? Living conditions, location (as in how close to the mother), financial stability, etc? Can an unmarried, heterosexual, financially stable couple ask for custody? How much will small-town politics help someone who doesn’t deserve the kids gain custody? If custody is granted to someone and they move in with the mother, will social services re-take the kids?

How Am I Going to Find Substance Abuse Treatment Centers in Tahoka, Texas?
Question by destiny s: How am I going to find substance abuse treatment centers in Tahoka, Texas?
One of my close friends abuses oxycontin. I would like to find a treatment center that will be able to handle cases like his. He has admitted to me that he’s addicted to the drug and he also wants to go back to the way he once was. He doesn’t want to keep on being dependent on a mere substance. I really want to help him.
