Where Can I Find Help for an Intervention and Alcoholism Rehab When There Is No Money or Health Insurance?
Question by Jebediah S: Where can I find help for an intervention and alcoholism rehab when there is no money or health insurance?
[rewrite]My mother is an alcoholic and has been for as long as I’ve been alive, probably much longer. It has only been getting worse. I am now 20. She has lost her job, been on unemployment for almost a year and is about to run out of benefits.
She got evicted from her home, moved in with her ex boyfriend who was (and still is) very abusive and also unemployed. They are now getting evicted from their trailer.
She has nowhere to go but cross country with her parents. She drinks anywhere from 15-30 beers a day, whole bottles of wine from time to time, and is becoming dependent on sleeping pills.
She refuses help and refuses to see a doctor, even though she will sometimes vomit blood. She now wakes up in the morning with the shakes, and is starting to see that drinking is a problem, but will refuse any help.
I need some sort of resources. I live in the Dallas, Tx area. I have nobody to talk to about this and don’t know what there is to do. No insurance, no money. She will not go on her own, an intervention may be necessary. If there is any way for me to sign her in, I will do it. She NEEDS help, and I need help dealing with this. I can’t keep watching my mother die, it is putting too much pressure on me. It is tearing me apart.
She is a wonderful, beautiful, caring person and I would not be where I am if it was not for her. There is nobody else she talks to or relies on but me. I am her only friend.
Please tell me what I can do.

Bless you for reaching out for help. Please take the next footstep and look into getting either inpatient (residential) treatment or outpatient counseling. Inpatient treatment has a lot more structure than an outpatient program.
This site may have some local treatment centers for those with a substance abuse problem(s), and some may have financial (money) assistance for those without health insurance: http://dasis3.samhsa.gov and can click one’s state of residence on the map and continue with the search.

Suboxone (also known as buprenorphine) is indeed a medication, used to treat addictions to opioids, prescription pills, etc. Its been said to be very effective as it helps to eliminate and treat symptoms that addicts will experience when going through withdrawals after they stop using the substance being abused.

I Am Looking for Resources on Addiction Therapy??
Question by irishfirefighter762: I am looking for resources on addiction therapy??
[rewrite]My wife is in therapy for a sleeping pill addiction and I am not happy with the progress that they are making in therapy. I wont to be able to talk intelligently with her about my concerns and possibly have some other option that would be more productive. My wife has not been evaluated with any test I am concerned that the therapist may not know how sever the addiction may be. She is a function addict with a job and every thing that everybody elts dose. It seams that the therapist is giving her unconditional positive regard and my wife seem to be feeding in to it with the theory that things are going grate in realty she had a small relapse just one month ago. I have read a little about Roger theory off and think that this might be the case here. I would like to request a Michigan drug dependency test. What is you though and advise I do not wont to change therapist because we have already done that once. Do you know of any websites that I might be able to read up on addiction therapy? The therapist now won’t to work on our marriage and I think that is totally the wrong direction because I think the addiction is what should be concentrated on. Please any advice would be great and if you have canceling experiences please let me know!!
