Do White People in Other Parts of the US Tend to Look Down on White People From the South?

Question by curious: Do white people in other parts of the US tend to look down on white people from the South?
The “South” implies the states that once made up the Confederacy. It seems like white people from other parts of the US consider Southern white Americans (with the possible exception of Floridans) to be inferior. The bias seems to come mainly from Americans in the Northeastern states.
Texas has a bigger economy than New York; Florida has the number four economy of all US states. I wouldn’t call the South poor!

I’m currently a psychology major, but I really think I want to be a social worker instead of a psychologist.

Pay, for one.

Most social workers I know, and I do know a few being we went through the adoption process in foster care, are talented people with great hearts that want to help rather than make a boatload of money.

How to Legally Deal With Someone Who Is Terrorizing Entire Neighborhood?

Question by CassandraM: How to legally deal with someone who is terrorizing entire neighborhood?
There is a new neighbor who has completely turned our neighborhood upside down overnight. He’s already been arrested for breaking into three homes in this area, but incidents of vandalism, threats, and attempted break-ins continue to occur throughout the neighborhood. Nothing like this ever occurred before he moved here. He can be seen pacing almost manic-like in his yard for hours at a time. It’s when he disppears from sight that things start to happen. Everyone is angry or afraid, and we want to take our neighborhood back…but how do we do it and still be legal?

I’m Looking for a Mental Health Clinic That Can Deal With Addiction and Suicide in a Bi-Polar Teen?

Question by ………: I’m looking for a mental health clinic that can deal with addiction and suicide in a Bi-polar teen?
It needs to be around Cincinnati Ohio and it has to be a live in center. He is 18 years old and has recently been diagnosed as Bipolar, he hasn’t been able to be given proper medication because he is throwing weed and synthetic weed/incense into the mix. It makes him very emotionally unstable and he does whatever he think will pull him out of his depression. Typically, that means more drugs, or alcohol. He is out of control and has attempted suicide while high at least three times in the past month or two.
Also, his parents aren’t rich. Are there any things that can help them with the immense costs these places seem to carry? (I understand the costs, I just need a way to maybe help them out.)
He attends therapy once a week, but it isn’t enough… 🙁

Is Someone Who Abuses Food to the Point of Negative Health Effects Equal to Someone Who Abuses Drugs*?

Question by Anonymous: Is someone who abuses food to the point of negative health effects equal to someone who abuses drugs*?
*alcohol is included as a drug.

If both food and drug abuse can cause health problems that can lead to financial stress, should they not be regulated equally?
Excessively obese persons can negatively affect those around them, just as heavy drug abusers can.
Those who use drugs in moderation can actually have health benefits, much as those who eat food in moderation.

Should we make food illegal?
