How Can I Get My Boyfriend to Go to Rehab for Drug Abuse?

Question by Shana Hutchins: How can I get my boyfriend to go to rehab for drug abuse?
[rewrite]My boyfriend and I have been together a short time, 2 months. But have been close friends for about a year. I had no idea until I got into the relationship that he was still struggling with a drug problem, I just knew he had used in the past. But he started disappearing for hours, wouldn’t answer anyones calls, made up absurd excuses as to what happened. So I knew something was going on, but didn’t want to accuse since I didn’t know exactly what was going on. We have a great relationship and he treats me like gold but I don’t want to sit back and watch him ruin his life. He came to me a week ago and finally admitted to me what had been going on after he disappeared one night and told me he’s been doing cocaine. He told me that night he was snorting it, and I’m not sure if there’s other ways to do it since I have never used nor been exposed to drugs. He also told me he wanted help but I don’t know how I’m supposed to help him. After he told me this he used a week later again. The trust I had is completely broken and when he’s away I’m scared he is going to go use. I don’t know what to do. I would like for him to enter some type of professional rehab if he would be willing but don’t know how to approach the subject or if he would even be interested. I need some resources or any type of things we could do as a couple to help him through this and show him I’m here for support through it all. Any advice would be appreciated. I don’t want to leave him, and I would appreciate any negative comments kept to yourself. I need positive advice.

Does Drug Treatment Programs Include Activities or Lectures Regarding Family Issues?

Question by Fatima: Does drug treatment programs include activities or lectures regarding family issues?
[rewrite]My brother Jeff checked into a drug rehab a week ago and I miss him. He says that he’s doing just fine and that he’s enjoying the activities and the lectures included in the program. I think he’s in for a fast recovery. Before entering rehab, he had a rift with our dad. They had a fight about his addiction with marijuana. There were shouting and blaming all over the place that the only thing that my mom managed to do is cry. I was wondering if the rehab provides lectures or discussions about rebuilding relationships with family members. I’m wishing for a reconciliation between Jeff and dad.

How Long Does It Take for a Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Program to Last?

Question by jake: How long does it take for a drug and alcohol rehabilitation program to last?
[rewrite]I want to undergo a drug and alcohol rehabilitation program. I want to start over with my life and I think allowing myself to be sober and detoxified is my first step to recovery. I’m worried about the time, though. I want to know how long the program will last because I want to be fully-recovered by the time my sister Sam gets married (which is in 6 weeks). Please help. Thank you.

What Can I Do About My Sister Spending Her Sons SSI on Drugs?

Question by johnsonpe4: What can I do about my sister spending her sons SSI on drugs?
My nephew is on SSI for reasons not completely known to me. My sister is his custodial parent but does not provide for him in the slightest. My mother/his grandmother who is disabled herself and can barely care for herself is the one who actually takes care of him. Every month when his money comes in. Money meant to keep him fed clothed and housed in school. Is instead spent on her drug addiction. I’ve gone so far as to spend my own money to get him socks because she won’t. But I can provide for him completely because I have 2 sons of my own who I raise by myself. He has next to no clothes and has even recently been expelled from school. But that’s all besides the point. Over the passed year I have reported her to social security twice and they have done NOTHING to stop her. So a few days ago I called the sheriffs department to see what they could do. Apparently they can do nothing apart from catching her with her junk on her. What else can I do to help stop what she is doing? I really could care less about her drug habit. But she should not be doing it on my nephews money. Any real tips or advice would be nice and VERY helpful. Thanks in advance.
1. My nephew does not live with me.
