Side Effects of the H1N1 Vaccine / Vaccination?

Question by ZZZ: Side effects of the H1N1 vaccine / vaccination?
[rewrite]I was thinking of getting my 5 year old daughter the H1N1 vaccination (the next time there is one) and I had saw a video on youtube about a woman who developed a rare neurological syndrome after getting a flu shot (not the H1N1, just a regular flu shot). 10 days after she got it, she went into convulsions and now can only walk backwards normally. She can’t walk forward and her speech isn’t normal. Oddly, she can run or jog forward and speak normally when she runs.

Cymbalta for Back Problems?

Question by Lisa R: Cymbalta for back problems?
[rewrite]I have several back problems, bulging disk laying on a nerve. Arthritis, stenosis etc. I went to the pain management doctor today. His recommended treatment was spinal injections with physical rehab, but as both of these are so expensive and I have no insurance, he is going to write a letter for me to take to local hospital to see if they will help.
Meantime he put me on Cymbalta, how does this work with back pain? I’ve never heard of an anti-depressant for pain? He swore it would help with the pain and numbness, I guess we will see. Just wondering if anyone has any advise or experience with this drug.
The doctor also recommended spinal injections, but I’ve been told by 5 people that I know not to do those. What’s the complications I also have right sided heart failure, heard they sometimes make your blood pressure rise. I also have an arachnoid cyst in brain would this cause any more danger in refrence to the injections.

Has anyone out there had either one? What are the pro’s and con’s of either one. My husband is 65 and is desperate to find something to help him. He has so many other health issues, such as kidney failure, heart disease, and has just gone through the most incredible cancer treatment! We were just told that he is cancer free!! M.D. Anderson Rocks!

Opiate and Benzo Withdrawl at the Same Time?

Question by dmike0330: opiate and benzo withdrawl at the same time?
[rewrite]I have been on opiates for 3 yrs. for 2 ruptured discs and a failed spinal fusion. I am trying to get on disability and unable to work so therefore have no insurance. I lost my job and then my home. So I had to move from FL to VA to live with my mom. I was going to pain management and being prescribed
XR morphine (30mg x2 daily), and oxycodone (7.5mg x3 daily). But because of the chronic pain and loosing everything and having to move back in with my mom, I got very depressed and also started having anxiety attacks. So I was put on xanax (.5mg x2 daily) about 6 months ago. Well to make a long story short, I no longer can afford pain management its almost $ 300 a month. So I had to start seeing a regular family doctor. Well she refused to prescribe what I was getting from pain management. She took me all the way down to only lortab (10mg x3 daily) and refused to fill the xanax. Well I went to only taking one xanax a day so I could make them last, and I ran out of both the pain meds and xanax last night. so it’s been like 24 hours and I am going through absolute HELL.
But the area of Virginia I live in is so bad for opiate abuse almost no doctors will even prescribe them. Trust me I tried 8 doctors and she is the only one who agreed to see me. So please don’t say just find another doctor because their is none. But my question is, what should I do? I am so scared of mainly the benzo withdrawl. If I go to the ER and tell them I ran out, they will just treat me like a junkie looking for a high. and even if they did help, my doctor will know. cuz they have prescription monitoring here. So I am screwed. How can a doctor just cut you off of a med that can cause seizures and more. Can anyone please advise what the best thing to do is? Sorry if this is hard to understand My head is so messed up it is hard to think strait.
