Medical-Addiction Question?

Question by Brett H: Medical-addiction Question?
Hey, I’m 26 and have been reliant upon opiates since I was 18. Finally, at 23 and after months of fatigue/sickness, countless attempts at anti-depressants, treatment centers, counseling, and psychiatrists, I began methadone at the Southern Indiana Treatment Center. At first I felt much better, but rather than decrease the dose my levels were increased to “find me a stable dose where I feel semi-normal.”. Needless to say I am now on 110 mg of methadone once daily. I still feel crappy half the time and have started realizing that my body, with the way it metabolizes medicine so quickly, may never be OK without it. The peak-and-trough blood serum test suggests my body needs 140. Should I accept the fact that my body will always need opiates? Anyone have any suggestions?

How Can I Find a Psychiatrist in Mineola, NY Area That Does Addiction Treatment?

Question by B333: How can I find a psychiatrist in Mineola, NY area that does addiction treatment?
One of my good friends is currently depressed and she has recently picked up on the habit of using opiates to self-medicate. Her family feels helpless and has requested that I help them out. The thing is that she refuses to go to inpatient drug rehab, partially because she is not willing to give up work and school in order to go do inpatient. Another thing with her is that she is currently taking psychiatric medications, which have been prescribed to her a while ago, but she is no longer under a psychiatrists supervision to monitor the drugs and better treat her depression.

Can a Juvenile Probation Officer Come to Your House and Drug Test You?

Question by Jake S: Can a juvenile probation officer come to your house and drug test you?
I’ve heard recently that my juvenile probation officer has gotten into trouble for showing up at peoples homes and drug testing them. I doubt it’s true, but she used to show up at my house at least once a month and randomly test me. Since I heard this information she has since stopped showing up and I just go to the scheduled meeting for a test. I’m wondering if she really has gotten into some trouble for this and what it could have been for. I live in West Virginia by the way.
