Is There a Job That Helps People Who Are Addicted to Drugs or Alcohol?
Question by Waka waka1017: Is there a job that helps people who are addicted to drugs or alcohol?
I have always wanted to go into law enforcement (federal and a detective) but I have been experiencing the affects of alcoholism and possibly some drug use in one of my parents. I go to alanon but my mom is in denial. I’ve been thinking of helping those addicted to drugs or alcohol to get better (off drugs and stop drinking). What jobs are there that would have me do this? And what type of degree would I need? I am currently a first semester freshman in college and my major is criminology and criminal justice with a concentration in community corrections
Residential Weight Loss Center/eating Disorder Treatment?
Question by Trillian: Residential weight loss center/eating disorder treatment?
I want to find a weight loss center that you can live at full time for a week, few weeks or month.
I’m looking for aspects of:
Nutritionist evaluation/developing a custom food plan.
No fad/unusual diets.
Education about nutrition
Psychological counceling/group therapy/support group to deal with the emotional side of eating.
Exercise components that can be tailored to an individual’s fitness level and/or physical limitations.
Meals are provided while there.
Chance to learn about meal preparation/studying nutrition labels to fit your diet
Reasonably priced – which would probably mean it isn’t taking place at a “spa” or “resort”.

Gosh, there are hundreds of different support groups.
WHO SEEKS the help for themselves (the abuser, a son/daughter, a parent, or a friend, an adult son/daughter still living with bad memories and ways of thinking from growing up with a drug abuser in the same family, or ?)?
Is THE DRUG ABUSER a kid, an adult, a father/mother, a physician, nurse, or ?
Do you know WHAT TYPE OF DRUG is the person abusing? Marijuana, Cocaine, Pills, or ?
Such info would be key to checking on the availability of a local support group helpline.
